亭台楼阁

亭是一种有顶无墙的小型建筑物。有圆形、方形、六角形、八角形、梅花形和扇形等多种形状。亭子常常建在山上、水旁、花间、桥上，可以供人们遮阳避雨、休息观景，也使园中的风景更加美丽。中国的亭子大多是用木、竹、砖、石建造的，如北京北海公园的五龙亭、苏州的沧浪亭等。

廊是园林中联系建筑之间的通道。它不但可以遮阳避雨，还像一条风景导游线，可以供游人透过柱子之间的空间观赏风景。北京颐和园中的长廊，是中国园林中最长的廊，长廊的一边是平静的昆明湖，另一边是苍翠的万寿山和一组组古典建筑。游人漫步在长廊中，可以观赏到一处处美丽的湖光山色。

榭是建在高台的房子。榭一般建在水中、水边或花畔。建在水边的又叫“水榭”，是为游人观赏水景而建的，如北海公园的水榭、承德避暑山庄的水心榭等。

楼阁是两层以上金碧辉煌的高大建筑。可以供游人登高远望，休息观景；还可以用来藏书供佛，悬挂钟鼓。在中国，著名的楼阁很多，如临近大海的山东蓬莱阁、北京颐和园的佛香阁、江西的滕王阁、湖南的岳阳楼、湖北的黄鹤楼等。
